Gone with the Wind is de beste film allertijden, aldus de uitslag van een peiling van de Amerikaanse Zender ABC en People Magazine.
Ruim een half miljoen mensen vinden de film uit 1939 de beste allertijden. De film sleepte ook de beste filmkus en de beste filmquote binnen, namelijk: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". Er kwamen meer categorieën voorbij. Zo is de beste romantische film - al worden Leonardo DiCaprio en Kate Winslet in als het meest romantische filmduo gezien. De beste horrorfilm is en de beste thriller . werd als beste actiefilm bestempeld. Indiana Jones is echter niet het beste filmpersonage; die eer gaat naar Forrest Gump, gespeeld door Tom Hanks.
