Warner Bros heeft bekend gemaakt dat Jesse Eisenberg de nieuwe Lex Luthor is in de filmBatman vs. Superman. Ook werd bekend wie de rol van butler Alfred gaat spelen.
De grote slechterik van de nieuweSuperman/Batmanfilm draagt dus
het gezicht van Jesse Eisenberg. Een enigszins verassende keuze. Het lijkt een trend te zijn van de filmmakers, want ook de casting van Batman (Ben Affleck) was destijds een grote verassing. Eentje waar niet iedereen blij mee was.
Regisseur Zack Snyder is in ieder geval tevreden met de casting, met Eisenberg wil hij een nieuwe versie van Lex Luthor laten zien: “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”.
Eisenberg is vooral bekend voor zijn rol inThe Social Networkwaar hij Mark Zuckerberg speelde. Voor die rol ontving hij destijds meerdere nominaties, waaronder voor een Oscar en een Golden Globe.
Oscarwinnaar Jeremy Irons zal te zien zijn als de trouwe butler Alfred
van Bruce Wayne. Snyder is ook over
deze keuze erg tevreden: “As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”.
Batman vs. Superman is het vervolg op Man of Steel . In de film zal Ben Affleck voor het eerst te zien zijn als Batman en keert Henry Cavill terug als Superman. Gal Gadot speelt Wonder Woman en daarnaast zullen ook Amy Adams, Diane Lane en Laurence Fishburne in de film te zien zijn. Batman vs. Superman wordt geregisseerd door Zack Snyder. De film zou oorspronkelijk in de zomer van 2015 verschijnen, maar de releasedatum is nu verzet naar mei 2016.
